46th Japanese Kobudo Demonstration

The 46th edition of the Japanese Kobudo Demonstration held at the Nippon Budokan took place on February 5th. As always I made sure to attend the event in order to record the demonstrations for your viewing pleasure!

This year was particularly significant for the Takumakai since it was led for the first time by the new General affairs director, Kobayashi Akihiko Sensei, who succeeded to Mori Hakaru Sensei after he passed away on November 15th, 2021. The event also saw Kimura Yasuko Sensei, Soke of Tendo-ryu being awarded a medal for her services to Classical martial arts. You can enjoy all the demonstrations in the playlist below.

Guillaume Erard is a 6th dan Aikido instructor. He has trained at the Aikido Hombu Dojo in Tokyo for over 15 years, where he received his credentials directly from Ueshiba Moriteru Doshu, the grandson of the founder of Aikido. Guillaume also holds the rank of 5th dan in Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu, the art that the founder learnt from Takeda Sokaku. To complete his training, Guillaume also practices full contact Karate. In 2020, he founded in his own dojo in Japan, Yokohama AikiDojo, which is officially affiliated with the Aikido World Headquarters. He regularly travels around the World to give seminars, as well as lectures on Budo history. Guillaume is passionate about science and education, he holds a Masters Degree in Education Science and a Doctorate in Molecular Biology.
