Every year on October 27th to 29th, Kodokan Judo Institute celebrates the birth of Judo founder Kano Jigoro Shihan. This was particular as it marked the 140th year since Kano Sense founded the Kodokan, and the 100th year since he proclaimed the principles of "Seiryoku-Zenyo" and "Jita-Kyoei".
On the 29th, I made my way to Korakuen, where I was greeted by the Kodokan staff, including Sameshima Motonari Sensei, 8th dan and a Senior Councillor of Kodokan Judo Institute (Former Head of Education and Instruction Department), who kindly spent a great deal of time explaining the specifics of the event, as well as answering my many questions about Judo.
